This day in age, you'd think one would be prepared when going on long trips. Did you pack the snack food? How about the extra toys to keep the kids from screaming? Sure, you even thought to have the extra "bathroom break" prior to leaving for the long journey. Who would have thought "did you pack an extra spacesuit" would legitimately become an issue?
"Plans for the first all-female spacewalk in history have been scrapped for lack of a second space suit, the US space agency NASA says." (bbc.com)
Irony has it, there was actually enough suits, but the timing was all wrong to make it happen. On board the International Space Station, there are two medium sized spacesuits; both of which can fit the female astronauts.
"Because only one medium-size torso can be made ready by Friday, Koch will wear it," NASA said. (nbcnews.com)
Unfortunately, only one was prepared for Astronaut Christina Koch, leaving the other for Astronaut Anne McClain unready for the walk. This left NASA with the decision to swap McClain for male colleague Nick Hague.
Despite not being an "all female" spacewalk, spirits still seem high, and the excitement of being in space continues.
